ABOUT ELICIT PRODUCTIONS
(Rob Hoffman and Heather Holley)
Elicit is the production and songwriting team of Rob Hoffman and Heather Holley. The team works out of their state-of-the-art studio located in Los Angeles, California. With credits that include Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones, they are particularly noted for their work with Christina Aguilera, having written and produced the recordings that led to her signing with RCA; and remaining part of her songwriting/production team for over a decade. Elicit credits also include Christina Aguilera songs for Pepsi and Mercedes ad campaigns, music featured in film, movie trailers and tv shows, including "Pursuit of Happyness," "Honey," "Rize" and "Roswell," and music for video games.
Rob Hoffman is a producer, songwriter and recording engineer. He plays guitar, piano, bass, drums, and has studied sitar and tabla. Born in March 1970, Rob was raised in rural New Jersey just 1.5 hours from the excitement of New York City to which he often traveled for musical inspiration. He graduated from Skidmore College with a B.A. in business and a minor in music.
Rob attended Full Sail Recording Institute in Orlando, Florida, and soon landed a job at the famous Hit Factory recording studios in New York City, where he worked on sessions with Arif Mardin, Puffy Combs, Usher, and recording legend Bruce Swedien, who became Rob’s long-time mentor. This relationship led to a three year stint as one of the core members of Michael Jackson’s production crew; working on two albums, a tour, an HBO show, and a short film. When Michael Jackson decided to finish his album in Los Angeles, Rob was asked to come along. After several months of working in LA, Rob decided to make the move permanently. Soon after, he became part of the core production team for Quincy Jones on “Q’s Jook Joint.” During these projects, Rob had the opportunity to work closely with legends such as Janet Jackson, Babyface, Jam and Lewis, R Kelly, Dallas Austin, Slash, and Nile Rogers.
Heather Holley was born and raised in the music town of Austin, Texas, and later moved to California where she attended UCLA. She was trained in classical piano from the age of 5, and was a member of choirs and bands for many years. In high school, she began performing in rock and pop bands, singing lead and backgrounds vocals, playing keyboards, and writing songs for herself and others.
Heather's experience as a singer and performer would contribute to her becoming one of the industry's best vocal producers and arrangers. Her songwriting landed her a publishing deal with Windswept Pacific. (Rob and Heather now have a publishing deal with Pen Music.) She is proficient in operating and recording in ProTools, and has become one of the few female producers in the business.
In 1998, Elicit was asked to write and produce the demo for a then unknown, former Mickey Mouse Club member named Christina Aguilera. The work led to Christina’s signing with RCA and to her debut album, which included Rob and Heather's song "Obvious." The album sold over 15 million copies. Rob and Heather are the only people to have worked on all three of Christina's albums. They are featured on television specials including VH1 Driven: Christina Aguilera, and the E! Channel Special "Christina Aguilera."
Elicit is known for developing artists, helping them to find their true style and sound, and readying them for record deals and long-term careers in music. Rob and Heather spend a lot of time getting to know each artist they work with, and, as with Christina, they maintain long-term relationships with many of these artists.
